Apple Announces October 12th Release Date of iOS 5

While recapping new features that we can expect in iOS 5, such as iMessage, Newsstand, Twitter integration, and a brand new Notification Center, Scott Forstall at the “let’s talk iPhone” media event has dropped the release date for iOS 5 as October 12th. iOS 5 will be a free update with support for the following devices: the new iPhone, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, and the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch.
